May 5, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Join the Boise River Enhancement Network as we take a close look at Idaho’s public trust doctrine as it pertains to the lower Boise River.
Rooted in Roman law, the public trust doctrine recognizes the public right to many natural resources The public trust doctrine requires Idaho to hold lands submerged below the ordinary high water mark of the Boise River in trust for the benefit of the people. Title to these lands is administered by the Idaho Department of Lands for the public benefit rather than for a specific beneficiary.
