The Boise River Enhancement Network is working with the City of Eagle to improve habitat at the city’s new Wood’s Park on the north side of the Boise River east of S Edgewood Lane. The new nature park includes two man-made ponds very close to the Boise River. This is the first work day, and the goal is to plant native willows on the shoreline of the ponds. Participants will learn how to select and harvest willow stakes and where and how to properly plant them using a variety of planting tools. Participants will also learn how to set up a monitoring process for the site.
Botanist Roger Rosentreter PhD will teach the class.
Harvesting willows will be moderately strenuous and planting is also strenuous. Participants need to be able to carry 25 lbs, walk 1 mile and dig.
Registration is required.
