SUMMARY:----------------------------------------------------  Crayfish Mercury Project
DESCRIPTION:The Boise River Enhancement Network (BREN) is once again partnering with the University of Idaho to catch crayfish for the Crayfish Mercury Project. This multi-year project measures the level of mercury in Crayfish which helps determine if crayfish and other fish caught from the river are safe for humans to eat. \nThis is a family friendly event and a great science project for children to participate in. A University of Idaho graduate student will be on site along with BREN professionals to answer questions about crayfish and the Boise River. Please note\, although the U of I is looking into methods to test for mercury that preserve the life of the crayfish\, at this point in time the crayfish are humanely killed once they reach the university. \n. This year we will be upstream and downstream from where the fifteen-mile creek enters the river\, near Middleton. Please join us Saturday\, Sept 14th at 9am. This is a family friendly event! Just bring shoes and clothes that can get wet. Meet at the sportsman access off Midland Blvd and the River.
