Foothills Learning Center

In order to reduce the invasive weeds in the foothills and along the Boise River and to support citizen volunteers who want to take the weeds into their own hands, the City of Boise has created Weed Warriors.  Certified Weed Warriors will be able to develop work plans with city staff and then remove weeds with other Warriors or on their own. Certification is a 2-step process involving a 1-hour orientation and a 2-hour field training.

The first field trainings will be:

Monday, June 19 – meet at Camel’s Back parking lot at 9 am

Wednesday, June 21 – meet at the Foothills Learning Center at 9 am

Volunteers will be working for about 2 hours, so please come prepared. The weather is going to be in the 90’s and water, sun protection, a light snack, and sturdy hiking shoes will be necessary.  The city has hand trowels and gloves if you need them, but feel free to bring your own tools.

An orientation was held May 31, but if you missed that, another will be scheduled this summer. You can attend the field session before the orientation.
